Privacy policy
Worldview Lens is a Chrome extension that estimates the developmental perspective a piece of writing is written from. This page explains exactly what data it handles. In short: it only reads text you ask it to read, your readings stay in your browser, and nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Text you choose to read
When you ask Worldview Lens to read a page, a selection, a file or pasted text, the extension extracts that text in your browser, including the display names of people in a thread, and sends it to the Worldview Lens service to be analyzed. The service passes it to two AI providers:
- TypeSafe AI, which scores each passage (its "Jev" model);
- Anthropic (Claude), only when you ask for a rephrasing or a written commentary.
The service doesn't keep the text. To avoid paying twice for identical requests, it keeps the scores for a passage for up to 30 days, filed under a one-way fingerprint (hash) of the request. PDFs and text files you drop in are opened on your computer; only their text is sent for analysis. Google Docs are read through Google's own export in your signed-in browser.
What is stored, and where
| Data | Where | Why, and for how long |
|---|---|---|
| Your readings and history | Only in your browser | So you can reopen them. Delete them any time in Settings ("Clear local data"), or turn saving off. |
| A random install ID | Your browser, and the service | Counts your free allowance (reads per day, Claude writes per month). It isn't linked to your identity. Daily counters are deleted after 30 days, monthly ones after two months. |
| Your IP address | The service, as a daily usage counter | Limits free use per network and prevents abuse. Counters are deleted after 30 days. |
| Passage scores | The service's cache | Avoids repeat costs. Deleted after 30 days. Contains scores, not your text. |
| Email address and Google account ID | The service, only if you sign in | Keeps a paid plan with you across computers. Kept while you have an account; ask us to delete it. |
| Subscription status | The service, only if you subscribe | Knows which plan you have. |
| Your own API keys (optional) | Only in your browser | If you use your own TypeSafe or Anthropic keys, text goes directly from your browser to those providers, not through our service. |
Payments
Paid plans are sold through Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record and handles payment, tax and billing. We never see or store your card details. See Stripe's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your data, or share it for advertising.
- We don't track your browsing. The extension reads a page only when you ask it to.
- We don't use your text to train AI models.
- We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.
Service providers
The service runs on Cloudflare. Text is analyzed by TypeSafe AI and Anthropic. Sign-in uses Google, and payments use Stripe. Each processes data under its own policy.
A note on what readings mean
Readings are an approximate, AI-based estimate of the perspective a piece of text is written from. They are not an assessment of any person and not a validated psychological instrument.
Children
Worldview Lens isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Your choices and rights
You can delete local readings in Settings, stop using the service at any time, and uninstall the extension to remove everything stored in your browser. To access or delete account data held by the service, or for any privacy question, email support@worldviewlens.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date.
